Best Handyman in Sea Isle City, NJ

Sea Isle City homeowners trust Mackenzie Contracting because we understand exactly what coastal shore properties need — and we treat every job, big or small, with the same care.

This island rebuilt itself after the March 1962 nor’easter pushed the beachfront back a full block, and it shows in the housing stock: more than three-quarters of today’s homes went up after 1980 (ACS 2020–2024). From beach block townhomes along Landis Avenue to bayfront retreats near JFK Boulevard, we’ve worked across this island and we know what holds up here. Here’s why Sea Isle City property owners keep calling us back.

When you call Mackenzie Contracting, you’re getting a handyman who shows up on time, does the work right, and leaves the place cleaner than they found it.

What Our Sea Isle City Handyman Crew Takes Care Of

From mid-island condos near 61st Street to older cottage-style homes closer to the north end, Sea Isle City properties span a wide range of ages, styles, and maintenance needs. Mackenzie Contracting offers handyman services in Sea Isle City that cover electrical, plumbing, interior, exterior, and rental property work — all under one roof. Whatever’s on your list, we can handle it.

Electrical Handyman Services in Sea Isle City

Many homes along Sea Isle City's numbered streets were built decades ago, and the electrical fixtures inside them show it.

Plumbing Repairs & Installations in Sea Isle City

Salt air and seasonal use are hard on plumbing fixtures — especially in properties that sit unoccupied for long stretches between renters or between seasons

Interior Handyman Projects in Sea Isle City

Between end-of-season repairs, pre-summer prep, and in-between-renter punch lists, interior work stays constant for Sea Isle City property owners.

Exterior Repairs & Seasonal Services in Sea Isle City

Living on a barrier island means your home takes a beating that inland properties simply don't. Between nor'easters, summer storm surges, and the relentless coastal wind that pushes salt and moisture into every exposed surface, exterior maintenance in Sea Isle City isn't optional — it's essential.

Rental & Airbnb Property Maintenance in Sea Isle City

Sea Isle City is one of the most active vacation rental markets on the entire Jersey Shore — 5,083 of the island’s homes, roughly 76%, are seasonal properties (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024), and summer multiplies the year-round population of about 2,100 nearly twentyfold, to as much as 40,000. With properties booked solid from Memorial Day through Labor Day, there’s little room for maintenance delays when you’re managing bookings.

Most owners live off-island and rely on a trusted local handyman to keep things running smoothly between guest stays. Mackenzie Contracting has become the go-to for landlords and Airbnb hosts who need fast, reliable help from someone who already knows the area.

Property Maintenance

Between guest turnovers, small things add up fast — a scuffed wall, a cabinet hinge that gave out, a screen with a tear in it. We handle routine upkeep efficiently so your unit is always in top shape for the next arrival.

Property Repairs

When something breaks mid-stay or between rentals, speed matters. We respond quickly to fix appliances, plumbing issues, locks, lighting, and anything else that keeps your guests happy and your reviews clean.

Property Check-Ups

For owners who aren't local, we offer property walkthroughs to catch issues before they become costly — checking for leaks, storm damage, pest entry points, and anything the off-season may have left behind.

I was very impressed with Mackenzie Contracting from beginning to end. John responded quickly to my phone call, visited for an estimate in a timely manner and then sent a proposal/ contract email within 24 hours. John gave us a date to compete the work and sent a text as a reminder to expect him on the date we agreed upon. John arrived on time and he was very friendly and professional. He did excellent work replacing the window jam and the trim even though there were unexpected issues. John measured for an additional project and sent an estimate shortly thereafter. We look forward to him doing further work at our home. We would highly recommend Mackenzie Contracting for any work you may need at your home or business.

This young man was recommended to us by our exterminating company. They told me that he was just starting out, and said he would do a good job, so, we’re always willing to give a local small business a try. I called and told him the work I needed done, and John gave us a time he’d come out to assess the project. He arrived on time and said he’d have an estimate to us by the following day, which he did. After a review of the work he was going to do, we accepted the offer, and he gave us a date & time. Once again he texted us with his time of arrival, and again arrived on time. In all honesty, I thought the job would be to small, and he wouldn’t want to do it, but I was wrong. He removed a crawl space window & framed it out and sealed it up with weather treated wood, and replaced a 3 way light switch in our kitchen. The area he work for the window was under a back porch, where he’d have to basically lay on his back for it to be done, one of the reasons I’d thought he decline the job, but he didn’t. He took pictures each stage of the work, to show us the before and after. John is worth a call, if you’re going to need work done. We are completely satisfied, and I’m sure you will also. I wish you much success young man, and will not hesitate to call you with any future projects we’ll have. Respectfully Mike Rubba.

If you’re looking for a reliable contractor, you found him! John is personable, listens to what you want, and does great work. He is great at communicating on when he will be over to start and complete the job. We wanted custom framing in our bedroom to help update the space, he did exactly what I wanted from inspiration photos I saved. I highly recommend him.

Sea Isle City Property Questions

Frequently Asked Questions — Handyman Services in Sea Isle City, NJ

Fast is the only speed that works here: 5,083 of the island’s homes — about 76% — are seasonal properties (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020–2024), and most run on weekly changeovers from Memorial Day through Labor Day. We slot lock swaps, screen repairs, caulk touch-ups, and appliance fixes into your turnover window so the next guests never see what the last ones broke.

The trend says yes: NOAA’s Atlantic City tide gauge — the closest long-term gauge to Sea Isle — logged a record 26 high-tide flood days in 2023, up from 8 the year before, and U.S. high-tide flooding now runs at more than double its 2000 frequency. Practically, that means ground-level storage, garage hardware, hose bibs, and crawl-space vents deserve a check after king tides — small inspections that prevent expensive rot and rust.

Younger than most — by necessity. After the March 1962 nor’easter forced the beachfront back a block, the island largely rebuilt: the median Sea Isle home dates to 1992 and more than three-quarters of the housing stock went up after 1980 (ACS 2020–2024). But a 1980s–90s build is now 30 to 45 years old, which means decks, sliders, exhaust fans, and water heaters across the island are aging on the same clock.

That is one of our most requested jobs. With the median Sea Isle home now valued at $1.09 million (ACS 2020–2024) and most owners living off-island, an off-season walkthrough is cheap insurance. We check for leaks, storm damage, failed weatherstripping, and pest entry, then send photos and a plain-language report — nothing gets fixed until you approve it.

All 2.2 square miles of the city Charles K. Landis laid out in 1882: the north end, the Promenade corridor from 29th to 57th Street, the Landis and Central Avenue spines, the bayfront docks and historic Fish Alley, and every block down to Townsends Inlet. One island, one crew, one free estimate.
